The research group has recently developed under the OpenFOAM technology a series of libraries and solvers which allow to perform fully 1D-3D coupled simulations by GT-SUITE v7.0 and OpenFOAMŪ. Details about the methodology and the validation of the implemented models can be found in published scientific papers [1,2] from the group in which this coupling had been realized between the in-house code GASDYN and OpenFOAM.
Users of GT-SUITE can download the aforementioned package, which includes all community contributed extensions of the OpenFOAM-1.4.1 and required additional libraries and solvers.
GT-SUITE dynamically loads OpenFOAM libraries if made available (using intermediate libraries which are provided by GTI). These libraries have wrapper FORTRAN functions making calls to
OpenFOAM C++ interface functions.
Currently, coupling is supported for OpenFOAM static mesh applications (following releases will include coupling with moving meshes for in-cylinder applications), and it
works on two platforms: Windows 32-bit and Linux_x86 GCC v4.3 or higher. Cross-platform coupling is not supported; hence, both codes must be installed in the same machine. The full source
code and coupling libraries can be downloaded anonymously from the following ftp server:
